Linux Version Shown for First Time

Alpine, Texas 2 April, 2005

Leo Ofenstein of SCR Corporation, and Dale Avant of Quad-A, Inc. announced the roll-out of KashMaster, a joint effort between SCR and Quad-A.

Based on SCR's StoreMaster, KashMaster incorporates a number of highly significant additions.

"The most important thing we've done is that the entire system runs on Linux computers," said Ofenstein, adding "this not only gives the business owner a far more stable platform than Windows, but it also makes available a huge array of software ranging from very low cost, to free."

Avant added "For us, the biggest part of the Linux systems is that we don't have the virus attacks that we had with Windows, we don't have the constant upgrades, and the network is faster and easier to work with!" Besides those features, Avant noted that built-in credit / debit card and check authorization - along with ACH and Bank-21 electronic checking, save a great deal of time and trouble for store managers, as well as saving the store money by reducing turn-around time on deposits and enabling electronic bad check recovery.

Quad-A's convenience, check-cashing, and quick-snack stores run networked multiple registers on Linux-based PC's, with barcode scanners, check imager/readers, ID/Credit/Debit Card scanners, thermal receipt printers, change machines, and web cameras. They also include a Linux-based data file server, and their management workstations include not only Linux computers, but both Windows and Mac OSX computers as well, all operating on the same network.

Along with the new software, SCR and Quad-A are also showing a line of "Pure Profit" items which allow stores to sell electronically delivered items such as phone cards and home phone service. These items are stored in the file server in encrypted form, and when a customer buys one

KashMaster will be on display at the McCarty-Hull show in Amarillo, Texas, on April 13th and 14th.
